There is much good advice found in this book. Information about cruises is voluminous on the internet, but varies widely depending on the informant's tastes. As a novice cruiser I wanted a handbook with concise information and phone numbers, addresses, and web sites all in one place. This is a good source for that information.

I bought this for my dad. He is hard to buy for. When he opened, it was his favorite present. He and my mom, have been on 50 cruises (no exaggeration). He said he found this book to be informative and well organized. Something to consider for the person who has it all or is hard to shop for.

What was included was excellent. I just wish there had been more information. Manzanillo was not in the book. I would have also liked more recommendations at each destination.

I buy this every year when it comes out as I love to read about all the new cruise ships and gain insight into the personalities of the different lines/ships. I donate the last book to my library so they can put it in the travel section.

I buy this book every year when planning for our cruise! Not only does it give the best info on all of the ships, it provides the latest recommendations for the excursions. I'd rather buy the book and find out that the excursion we think it going to be great doesn't even find it's way into the book as a recommendation than loose $200 or more on an excursion that is a waste of money...

We've been on two cruises and the guide answered every question we had, and answered many that we would not have thought to ask. The book definitely made our trips much more enjoyable than they would have otherwise been.

Entertaining and engaging, and lots of them. Our active young reader becomes engrossed to the point of oblivion, and far better he is lost in a book than in electronic iPioids.I have read a few chapters with him, and in my opinion Harry Potter (which he also loved and read non-stop) has more literary merit than Warriors-- more artful use of language, imagery, plot. Vocabulary, grammar, and overall "reading level" is definitely a bit lighter in Warriors than Potter. In fact I used to joke when he started the first book, "The book is written in English but you know they're really just saying 'Meow meow meow meow'," to the kids great annoyance.But my opinion really doesn't matter, the main point is kids, MY kids, LOVE Warriors, and they will read and read and read. It may not send anyone running to the OED, but there's still plenty to help a young reader (and maybe some young budding writers) develop. And to Warrior's advantage, there are ALOT of books in the series, so as quickly as the kids devour them we can toss them more, and keep them reading. I expect this box set to be consumed in short order, and I have given relatives the heads-up about what to get for the Holidays. "Erin Hunter" is practically the Nicolas Bourbaki of youth literature, and I hope that the publisher can keep the series going.PS The series has been translated over the world, and some international editions have nice "extras". For example, the Taiwanese edition has short "manga" style Warrior comics between some chapters. Would be nice to see something similar in English special editions.

I've loved these books since I was a child. I've been reading them over and over since 4th grade and I'm 21 now. I love them so much I bought these even though I had the original paperbacks and hardbacks of this series.The new covers are beautiful! And the books are fun to read even though I've read them dozens of times. I would recommend them to any animal/cat lover.

This series was a Christmas gift for my 12 year old great nephew. He opened the gift and started reading the first book. We had to make him put it down to open the rest of his presents.

This was purchase as a Christmas gift early in December of 2015 for my daughter. This collection had arrived intact and way before gift giving. My daughter enjoy reading this book series. She is now in her teens and she can not get enough of these Warriors series.Here's two fun facts:1st - Erin Hunter is a pseudonym who has a total of seven author working under the name of Erin Hunter.2nd - Beside the Warriors series there are three additional (individual) series... SEEKERS, SURVIVORS, & BRAVELANDS.

I finally found a series that my daughter will read.She volunteers to read now. She even spent more time reading her book instead of playing with her iPad waiting 2 hours at the hospital last week.

I first got these books from the library and liked them enough to buy the set. I'm not a kid nor will I give these to a juvenile, the writing and the themes are appropriate for adults, too. Two points: there is a fair bit of violence. Some readers may feel uncomfortable with the bloodshed - I did. And the stories are addictive. Once you're a Warriors fan you will want to read all the books, not just this starter pack.

My daughter heard about this series from a classmate (4th grade) and came home talking about it. She is currently on the 5th book out of 6 and is talking about reading all of them. I have heard so much about the stories and she is completely hooked. Great series for an animal-loving girl.

My daughter loves these books. It is hard to get her to read unless she really likes the book. She has read these books in record time and can't wait to read the next set.

After years of fighting to get my kids to read we found this book set. My kids 11 & 14 both got into the series. The older read all 6 books in a week, not because their short but because he couldn't put it down. They kept him off the video game/ computer for a week...Yay! Be aware there are some graphic violent fights (probably what kept them so interested).

The details were very interwoven with the characters & times in history.I would recommend this novel for it's historical information & true to life history. Thank you.

This historical novel by Noah Gordon is up to the level of his masterful book "The Physician". In this novel we follow the steps of a young jewish silversmith apprentice from the streets of Toledo to his mature age as a physician in Zaragoza.The background of this historical novel is the expulsion of jews from Spain in 1492, one of Spain's greatest historical blunders, and the start of the Spanish in 1478. Very well written, it is a great work, and a pleasure to read.

Once I'd read "The Physician" and "Shaman" I was struck with a massive desire to read all of Noah Gordon's books. This plan started going down hill immediately with "Choices" the last in the Cole trilogy. I had high hopes for "The Last Jew" though.Unfortunately they turned out to be a little premature. It's really a shame because the premis was so good. It's 1892 and all Jews have been ordered out of Spain. But Yonah and his father Helkias are delayed, hoping to collect an outstanding debt for Helkias' fine silverwork owed by an unscrupulous nobleman. This delay proves to be fatal when a man from the families past-who was somehow involved in the earlier murder of Yonah's brother becomes involved and soon Yonah find himself totally alone-as the last Jew in Spain.The main problem with this book is that it is really, really fragmented. Yonah wanders constantly to avoid the inquisition and so none of the other characters or settings last that long. The back of the book makes it sound like the novel contains some epic love story but its completely false advertising. The truth is no character is around for more than a couple of chapters.The other main problem is that Yonah is essentially the same character as Rob in "The Physician", Rob in "Shaman" and Shaman in "Shaman." Not only are these four characters all the same physically, but their mental and emotional states are remarkably similar. Within a series that's about several generations of family similarities like that might be ok, but if all the books an author writes have such non-diverse characters it just shows a lack of imagination.All in all I might have liked this book better had I not read other Noah Gordon books first. His writing style and pure use of language is wonderful as always, but with the fragmentation and oh-so familiar characters it just couldn't hold up to his better books.Three stars.

Fans of Noah Gordon will find much comfort in this book. He returns to familiar themes and rhythms in The Last Jew. Stylistically he borrows much from both master works The Physician and Shaman. While the themes and rhythms of the book are familiar Gordon brings forth a compelling new story that entertains from beginning to end. Perhaps Gordon is somewhat of a nomad, for it is the wanderings of his characters that they take form.The Last Jew paints a vivid picture of one of Christianity's darker moments, yet in the end shows how the goodness of a person can triumph over even the greatest obstacles. Yonah Toledano discovers the cruelty of Christianity as an institution bent to serve other purposes. He discovers the true Christianity in the hearts of those who take him into their lives. The irony of the book lies in the affirmation of all faiths, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam through the instrument of the Spanish Inquisition.The book is about the triumph of the soul, about keeping faith and promises and about never forgetting whom you are. Shorter by a great deal than The Physician and Shaman, it would be an excellent primer for the new Gordon reader before tackling the more complex but equaling compelling trilogy.Thank you Mr. Gordon.

Loved it. Written beautifully and a very engrossing story. I learned a great deal from the author and I am going to read his other books. It was in depth and I was with Yonah as he went from place to place.

This is a timeless novel. It will be read from here to eternity. A great portrayal of Spain in the 1400s. The mini plots are woven in from one setting to the other. Truly outstanding.

I had the advantage of traveling in Spain and Portugal while reading this book so it really struck a chord with me as I was visiting all of the places the story took place in. Not having had occasion to think much about this time in Jewish history, I found the history of it all very interesting as well as sad to learn of so much suffering, again, all done in the name of religion. A very good read for anyone who enjoys historical fiction and I highly recommend this book.

if you're a noah gordon fan(shaman...the physician--also an excellent film with ben kingsley...), then this will not disappoint...epic storytelling a la hidalgo...period piece mixing in elements of the plague, the Inquisition and Middle Age medicine...that and soooomuch more....what you'd expect from a noah gordon work...EASY to recommend to you, the faithful...
