I honestly can't believe that each part is funnier than the last but it's true. I read it so fast I'm almost upset about it! Also I can't think of another "satirical feminist erotic fiction book" so get this sheerly because of how unique and amazing the concept is!! And then marvel at its brilliant execution!

This is a great book to read a section at a time.You'll want to "binge" it because the stories are so nice and bite-sized, but resist. (Pun KIND of intended.) The satire is much sharper if you read a section a day, imo.Oh, and don't be scared away or threatened by the title. :) There is something for everyone here, men included, and this ex-football playing Star Wars fan actually laughed the hardest at a "Scarlett Letter" story, and stopped to think after "the elevator story" so don't skip a single one!I staged a photo that seemed appropriate with my kindle copy of the book in homage to one I actually saw on Twitter.

Many vignettes are laugh out loud funny, but I must say I was particularly impressed with the literary and historical sections, which are next-level in their irreverence as they also show a deep familiarity with subjects and stories often relegated solely to academia while being downright hilarious. The writing here in New Erotica for Feminists is succinct and whip smart; even the longer vignettes are quick reads, packing as many witty wallops as possible into the prose. The winking-eye tone is consistent and clear throughout, which is no small thing for a book with four authors (kudos to them and their editors). Plus, by keeping most of the identifiers gender-neutral throughout, the book makes it easy for ANYONE to imagine themselves in these "erotic" situations as all good erotica, even the satirical kind, should do.This is a book for anyone and everyone who believes in equality. Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie said "we should all be feminists," and through its satirical prose, New Erotica for Feminists makes the case that basic equality shouldn't just be a titillating idea but an every day practice for us all.

When "New Erotica For Feminists" came out on McSweeney's, I loved it. It was brilliant satire and a gymnastic subversion of some of the tropes of porn (am I allowed to say porn on an Amazon review?) and erotic fiction. Then I heard it was going to be a book and I was THRILLED. I eagerly anticipated it and when it finally arrived, I devoured it in one sitting.This is a book that is hilarious to read. And then you read it again and you start to think about the injustices that it is pointing out and you start to want to take action! Fortunately, the authors have anticipated this feeling and have put some very helpful tips about how to do just that in the last section of the book.I think anyone with a sense of humor will get a kick out of this book. And maybe they'll think about some things from a new perspective. Basically what I'm saying is that I think this book should be taught in schools.

I’ve been so excited to read this book and it did not disappoint—in fact, it was hilarious.Smart, witty, and incredibly enjoyable (to the point that I meant to read only a few pages, but read the whole thing in one sitting).

I read the original McSweeney's piece and when I found out it was coming out as a book I was so excited! This is such smart satire and it's got some really funny laugh out loud moments. It's also the perfect gift! I gave it to my conservative cousin who thinks "feminism is out of control" and the look on his face was worth it.

Where to start??? There are so many things I love about "New Erotica For Feminists." First, it's funny as hell. Second, it's bite size—perfect for small interludes of subversive feminism throughout your day. Third, it's culturally and societally important. Fourth, it makes the absolute best gift. I bought it for all my friends and family (men and women) for Xmas and it was a hit with everyone except an old uncle no one really talks to. Buy this book. Read this book. You'll be a smarter, better person for it.

I highly recommend New Erotica for Feminists as it kept me smiling and giggling all the way through! I especially loved how it revisited stories from my childhood with satire and spunk, specifically Lolita and Romeo and Juliet.

I am going to be teaching this to a ladies Bible study group in January. I have already started studying this book. Every one who is a born again Christian should take this study. I did not know the significance these feast days have with Jesus. What an eye opener. God has a reason for everything He told us in the Bible. Everything points to Christ as the Son of God and I have been amazed how the feast days depict Christ. I can't wait to get into the full study. My ladies are excited and I will write a review after we study this.

I needed to do a PowerPoint presentation for a couple of churches and this tool was very helpful. It covered all the fundamentals of the Feasts initial purposes and tied in the spiritual fulfillment of Jesus as Messiah very well. It became a real eye-opener for the evangelical Christians that were in attendance. If anyone ever had reason to celebrate God's Feasts, it would be Christians due to Yeshua's spiritual fulfillment of them. I highly recommend the Feasts of the Bible Kit for a solid summary of Christ's role in the major Feasts.

This book resonates with such a powerful and poignant storyline that left me absolutely shocked, sadden, and emboldened. The author, Alicia Mundy, has written a truly compelling book that helps the reader understand the history behind one of the most heinous debacles to ever rock the pharmaceutical industry. Ms. Mundy puts you into the passenger seat of a vehicle she navigates with such precision and takes you on a ride that leaves the reader wondering, how don’t more people know about this?! Since reading this book I have given it to so many of my friends and colleagues with the strong encouragement to read it.The Fen-Phen disaster was something I became intimately aware of as I worked with a law firm that represented many thousands of people who took the drug. Those who ingested Fen-Phen suffered, and many still do, with heart valve damage, congestive heart failure, and to some the death sentence of Primary Pulmonary Hypertension. Sadly most of the events that transpired during this time were largely swept under the rug as the advent of the Internet was still in its infancy. The author helps bring to light a story of greed that still leaves me cautious and wary of anything I put into my body.This is a book you can’t afford NOT to read. It is highly recommended!

Fen-phen wasn't even that effective! Take a look at the actual data, the effectiveness peaked at 34 weeks and after that the users regained weight even when they continued using the drug combo. So what's the point?The ONLY safe and effective way to lose weight is to retrain your attitudes about food, eat less, eat better (i.e., minimize the junk), and exercise more. To promote upcoming diet pills, drug companies joined forces in a massive PR campaign to convince physicians that obesity was very dangerous to your health, so dangerous that it was a favorable trade off to take a drug that might kill you but would make you lose 7 to 10 pounds. The PR campaign ended long ago, but it took off on its own like a virus spreading between health professionals and the media. The PR campaign that was started for the promotion of Redux, Xenical and Pondamin ignited a wave of hysteria that continues today.

Great story about how greedy drug companies can be and will do whatever it takes to protect their profits without considering the consumer's health. Well written, along the lines of "A Civil Action", but a faster read.

I am in a Master's Degree program for Regulatory Science at Johns Hopkins University. The topic of this book is precisely what is involved in matters between pharma and medical device manufacturers and the regulatory bodies, FDA, EU Medicines Agency, among many others. I believe there is greater transparency within FDA now and much as a result of this debacle.

I lost my sister Grace to this fkin drug! She died when she was 31, married, had 2 boys and was successfully running her hawaiian cafe in Las Vegas. It just killed me to know that the pharmaceutical companies and the FDA knew that this drug was dangerous way back in the late 80s. My Sister started it in the late 90s. Within a few months of taking the drug, she had to undergo a quadruple heart bypass at the age of 30. The drug totally ate up her valves and had to replace all 4! They then diagnosed her with athsma, when no one in our family has a history of. She was in and out of the hospital weeks at a time. She could still be living if these @sswipes took it off the market! I am only in the 4th chapter and I get nauseated just thinking about how her final days were numbered. I dont like what they did, but I feel that this book is giving me a bit of closure I didnt get after she passed.......

This information help to put me in touch with the Atty that started the class action litigation for Phen Fen.

The writing style is like what you would get in talking with a real life attorney; informal, but highly informative.

But despite the vast power of the cerebral cortex we still do not understand that most implacable of mysteries, our neurologically (and bodily) based selves. Laura Weed in her vastly edifying "The Structure of Thinking" sheds an enormous amount of light into the dark recesses of the human mind. Weed's book is one of the best accounts of what thought is, and what it is not. Thought, according to Weed, isn't reducible to syntax, thought is not just an algorithm or computer program, the crunching of abstract symbols as part of some sort of neuronally based computation. Thought requires an 'intentional' aspect, a point of view, and our neural systems have evolved to interpret, categorize, or mark out aspects of our experience in specific ways, ways that are not reducible to computation. Weed provides some very creative and original ways of reassessing our approach to consciousness, including a very promising discussion on 'intentional causation' or what Weed dubs 'Kausation' as a way of overcoming difficulties associated with the notion of 'efficient causation' which dominates most thinking in the cognitive sciences. My summary here is necessarily an over simplification of a rich and very subtle book. But for anyone interested in a post-Cartesian process account of mind "The Structure of Thinking" is a uniquely rewarding book.

As it stands, They Speak by Silences is an outstanding expression of the tradition of Western monastic mysticism. The anonymous author (Augustin Guillerand) may be rightly compared to a peaceable Bernard of Clairvaux. And happily no one has to be a monk or a nun to be a mystic.

A must read!!! Get this book and "Where silence is Praise" by the same Carthusian. Splendid, Beautiful! A great find for the Spiritual life...coming from the depths of the silence and solitude of the Charterhouse.

This book isn't "about" the Carthusians but is a collection of short (1 paragraph to 3 page) excerpts from the writings (letters apparently) of an anonymous Carthusian monk who we are told was a person of exceptional spiritual maturity, who held various positions of authority and spiritual guidance within the Carthusian Order. I normally don't care for books of short reflections, but this is exquisitely great guidance by a spiritual director of a rare calibre. It is beautiful and as deep and pure as can be. You will want to read it prayerfully and learn from it.

This book is made up of a number of very short chapters covering the foundational issues we all encounter in the spiritual life. Of this series of books, this would not however be my favourite - that goes to "The wound of love".

Great quick-lookup resource for vets, but also great read for beginners. Wish it dove into a little more depth and showed more code-fu, but not bad overall. If your an AX dev, it's worth it to pick up the digital copy for a quick reference. Recommend reading if you're trying to get into AX programming.
