This book is good for providing ideas for designing safer streets, but cant be leaned on too much due to a severe lack of data. While I enjoy looking through the book and speculating if certain approaches may work, the fact that important data isn't found in the book makes the book only partially useful.I support the work NACTO does, and like this book quite a bit. But it would be great to know what the VMT on these roads and intersections were prior and after the change, what the crash rates were, how businesses fared...these are the questions that get asked in meetings and without that data, this book can only provide conceptual help. I really wish it provided more evidence.

Excellent illustrations good overview of good design. I wish my state planners would read it. They seem to be stuck in obsolete planning that created our big city slums. This book is helping me push back. It is worth the relatively high price.
