I was initially worried about organic as a whole after hearing how it is one of the hardest undergraduate courses in college. This was the required book by our professor. I have had this book for about 1.5 months now and I have to say my worries of organic are lessened greatly. This book isn't vague in its descriptions, explanations, or example problems at all. I am a chemical engineering student so I have had a few textbooks that were absolutely awful and were pretty much useless since the content can be extremely difficult at times. I would highly recommend buying the solutions manual with this book. It has detailed explanations of every single EOC problem...not just the odd numbered ones.
The content does not change much between different textbooks, but I dislike it due to the organization. There is very much highlighting and bold words and margin notes, which overwhelm and confuse the reader, but there is a nice summary at the end of each chapter. However, I still prefer other O Chem textbooks that limit their important terms to a few foundational concepts.
This is the best book for organic chem. I love colors and detail.
